a skeleton in the closet

This morning I was at the station of a location near Rome. The station was clean and a worker, equipped with a broom and collect garbage, is cleaning the dock. He smoked while collecting mostly cigarette butts. When he finished the cigarette he threw the butt on the tracks! He was at a distance of 3-4 meters from the ashtray. That cigarette butt (with its load of polluting residues) will take 5-12 years to decompose... I have been a smoker for 40 years almost in a row. I dispersed in the environment (especially as a boy, at that time the ecological sensitivity was zero, at least for me) maybe 200,000 stubs or more! Probably this is the worst thing I've done in my life. Of course, in the last few years I never left the butts around the world, but for many years I did it. These days I'm looking at Star Trek Discovery and strangely I'm not in love with Sonequa Martin-Green , maybe because she has a weeping look that contrasts with her character: a Terran educat

I was impressed by the threats of some people of the so-called gilets jaunes to Alain Finkielkraut . Oh, well, nothing new. Anti-Semitism is always alive and ready to bloom again, in an eternal déjà vu. About 600,000 Jews live in France , something like 1% of the population. In Italy less than 0.5% of the 60,000,000 inhabitants is Jewish ... Yet anti-Semitism is there, it is always ready to re-emerge. Yet anti-Semitic assholes should know that anti-Semitism is counterproductive: sometimes it wins elections, but it always makes wars of any kind. Indicating a false enemy is an easy way to go in the short term, but can you imagine a more stupid (though very bloody and devastating) action to fight a nonexistent enemy? But I would have liked to talk about Russian doll and of being in love with Natasha Lyonne (she, along with others, has devised, produced and written the screenplay of the series). Actually no, I was already in love with Natasha since the days of Orange is the

A minister should not be superior to the law. oh, well: nobody should be superior to the law. In Italy, a minister thinks that he should not be put on trial because he says he acted in the interests ofthe state . According to his interpretation a minister (who has made certain promises in the election campaign) and a government can violate the law, if they say they act for the interest of the state. A pronouncement (by the Senateauthorization junta ) favorable to the minister could expose our democracy to easily imaginable risks; if a minister can order to segregate people, outside of any law, what should we expect from the government? It has been pointed out to me that I write very banal things in a very ungrammatical way. I know. The point is this: I want to learn to write in English about topics that are not the apple on the table, the book in the backpack… So I have to write simple sentences on trivial subjects (and what is more trivial than a cunning m

There are many things wrong in Italy. in the sense of in Italy today. Some (not insignificant) sectors of parliament and public opinion seem determined to make us go back to 20-30 or 40 years ago. These people, for political reasons, are willing to make havoc of civil rights, starting with immigrants and women. There is not much to add, an example: the Pillon bill that is unleashing great protests . A government that does not hesitate to take a stand in protests in France, but is not so determined to talk about the protests in Venezuela . A government that succeeds at the same time to lick the ass (I hope that in English this way of saying maintain the expressive force that it has in Italian) to Trump and Putin ...
